The Raft Race will take place at Gee Creek Campground near Benton, TN and on the Hiwassee River. Each Troop will construct one or several rafts to float down the Hiwassee River from the put-in at Reliance to the take-out at the 411 boat ramp. The rafts are to hold from 3 to 8 Scouts. Scouts may only use lashings to hold the raft together. Inner tubes will be used for extra flotation. A support boat will accompany every raft. Safety instructions will be given before putting on the river. All “Safety Afloat” and “Guide to Safe Scouting” procedures will be followed. A cracker barrel will be on Friday night for the leaders where final plans will be given to all Troop Leaders. A campfire and program will be presented on Saturday night.
